I only did this full hike once. Even in March, it is a tough hike all the way up. I needed all day!
Finger Rock Trail is a difficult hiking trail which only the seasoned hikers should attempt. Although the views of the Tucson valley and surrounding mountains are spectacular from Finger Rock Trail, there are much easier hikes with similar views such as Pima Canyon or Ventana Canyon.
Finger Rock Trail is not a terribly strenuous trail. If you get too tired before you reach the top you can quit and go back down the trail. On the other hand if you follow the well-marked trail to the top, you can forever point to Finger Rock and say, "I did that!"
This is a visual landmark on the northern Tucson mountain range. A lovely trail that requires significant energy and time to reach the top, however, go as far as you like and turn around you will be rewarded with beautiful mountain sights and a nice workout.
