We visited the Salem National Maritime Historical Site on 6/27/09 and did one of the ranger-guided tours of the Customs House. It was definitely an interesting tour and I would recommend it to those interested in learning about the history of Salem, that doesn’t involve witches. Salem has an interesting maritime history and the combined clipper ship/customs house tour was is a good taste of that. The tour of the replica ship w/ knowledgeable guide was enjoyable. The guide gave some useful demos on some equipment. The customs house, while not as appealing as a ship tour, was good, too. Probably heavily dependent on the guide,... more
