I loved that instead of tearing down old structures, San Antonio has preserved many older buildings and remodeled into wonderful spaces. SAMA is a perfect example. Located on the Riverwalk away from downtown, this is a perfect stop for some culture.

$22 for two adults and two kids. Egyptian, Greek, and Latin art very interesting. Especially Peruvian art. Also contemporary art. Although the 4 yr old was most excited by the squirrel she saw through the window in the garden. Nice gift shop. We didn't stop at the restaurant.
Has an amazing variety for a museum its size. We enjoyed the ancient items from Eqypt, Greece, the middle East, and Asia. It had just the right amount to see in one visit. And the cafe associated with the museum, Cafe des Artistes, had excellent choices for a nutritious, delicious lunch.
Go, see, do. Nestled by the Jones Ave bridge over the new riverwalk extension the museum has continually upgraded its collection. The museum was most interesting, the gift shop was fun to browse and the restaurant served a lovely lunch overlooking the river.
I went to the Museum of Art on the free Tuesday evening offer. I couldn't believe the size of the museum and the amount of exhibits. It was impressive and one could spend easily 3hrs + at this museum. If you are an art enthusiast, I definitely would recommend going to this museum.
you can get here via boat taxi, great restaurant and super museum
It made a delightful afternoon to ride up in the water taxi, have lunch at the Cafe des Artistes outside and tour the museum. We especially enjoyed the Latin AMerican exhibit.
We spent a few hours in this museum and could have spent longer but we had arrived too late. Very nice exhibits and some art of the local people.
This museum is much larger than you would expect from San Antonio, with a very impressive collection. I would set aside half a day to wonder around here, don't worry, they have a great cafe on the river too!
