First, the time on the website was a half hour earlier than the actual tour. Second, our guide hardly talked, he was a nice enough guy but only pointed out a couple three places. Third, the trip was billed as a dinner trip. One problem, no dinner was included. We stopped in a town called Lamy (sp?) where there was... More

Loved riding on the old train and hearing all the interesting things the conductor had to say. We took the hot shot, which only lasted a little over two hours, due to our young grandson being with us. It did put him to sleep, but he loved it when he did wake up. The flat car was really enjoyable, because... More

The trip on a vintage train was made even more delightful by "Conductor Billy". His extensive knowledge of the Santa Fe Southern Railway, the local flora and fauna, Santa Fe history including the days of the wild, wild west, kept passengers entertained. He also served as the bartender and resident comedian. The trip lasted a few hours and provided high... More

They offered two kind of tours, one of them to a near ghost town called Lamy. Those trips do exist only on weekends and since we wanted to book seats mid week, simply we could't. I decided to drive all the way to Lamy just to see what we have missed....nothing. Lamy is much less than a town, not even... More

This was so much fun. If you ride in winter sometimes you get bumped up to silver class (like first class) if the train is not sold out. I still prefer the regular seats. They feel more historic to me and more comfortable to boot. The people in silver class get to listen as the conductor tells them the history... More

Took the train out to the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm/ sunstorm. Ticket prices were a little hight .. but I felt that it was worth the money. The 12 year old who was with us really enjoyed the trip. The train had beer and small snacks for purchase ... so I was happy.

The trip was very informative, comfortable and gave you access to items outside of the Santa Fe city limits. They service was wonderful once on board the train, the bar was well stocked, and the scenery was breathtaking.

The train is authentic, old, and rickety. The trip is a few hours coming and going to Lamy, NM where they have some food for purchase. An hour layover (approx.) with nothing to see except a few stray dogs and a building across the railroad tracks and one small bathroom in the "stations" on either end and very unsanitary to... More

We were in Santa Fe over the Christmas Holidays and I had made a reservation on the SFSR train for two days after Christmas. I had actually reserved the longer Lamy run, but on the day of the trip they said the trip had been changed to the shorter Hotshot run. One hour versus two. The train is pretty cool.... More
