The chocolate infused drinks are a rare treat and the hand made chocolates are an escape from the ordinary. Try the Cabernet truffles, piñon turtles, or chilies covered in dark chocolate.

We went based on Trip Advisor's statement of "factory tours". They do not offer tours and the free samples they give you are of the drinking chocolate. They gave us one tiny sample for three of us to share. The chocolate ranged from $2-4 a piece, up to $40 a pound. We ended up getting a couple of brownies and... More

Decided to go to this place after reading the reviews on TA. They offer you free samples so you can decide what you want before purchasing. Tried the American and it was good. My husband tried the Chile and decided it was too spicy (they do warn you!). Ended up buying a small American (or is it Americano?) to go.... More

This was a fun experience. They let us try several of the different types of chocolate and then pick which ones we wanted. Some were sweet, some spicy, and some had a rich bittersweet chocolate flavor. It was a cute place to relax and sip chocolate. I got a small, but could not finish it - so rich!

No Ghiradelli or Hersheys here! The shop takes a historical view of hot chocolate, and offers interpretations of 18th century Europe, Mayan and Colonial America. Very rich, bittersweet and aromatic.

Not many chocolate houses that serve drinking chocolate - and in such a variety as Kakawa. Amicable staff offers tastings of the delicious drinks served in what appear to be vintage little Mexican mugs. Also, the best caramels I have ever tasted. A great little hang out.

I really enjoyed the chile hot chocolate. It was very strong, but yummy. The lady working there was pleasant. The chocolates were fine--nothing spectacular, but not bad.

I loved having an opportunity to sample the different chocolate drinks which helped me decide which ones to purchase. The chocolate drink mixes make a wonderful gift to take back to friends at home.
