What a delightful surprise we were in for when we stumbled on the Luray Zoo in Luray, Virginia! We were pretty sure this zoo would disappoint us when we saw the giant Tyrannasaurus Rex and Crocodile mouth entrance en route to Luray Caverns. Boy, were we wrong! Clearly, the owner/ management of this wonderful little zoo cares deeply for animals!... more

I agree with all of the comments below. Mark and Jen have done so much work that they need some type of reward. They are really quite patient with the visitors of all ages that do not leave their silliness and rudeness at the door. I was going to recommend that they have more parking (only about 12 spaces and... more

The Luray Zoo was worth the $10 admission. It is small but has a large collection of snakes that you can learn more about during the snake demo at 3:30 daily in the summer. The owner gave the demo and talked a lot about snakes while displaying a few specimens including a cobra and rattlesnake. He also let the kids... more

This was a spur-of-the-moment roadside visit, but we're glad we stopped. For $10 each we got to see a variety of local and exotic snakes, some of which (the rattlers especially) were very active and all were in plain view. The highlight of the reptile exhibit was a huge and ancient Alligator Turtle, which was donated by Steve and Terri... more

We visited with a group of kids around 5-12 years of age. Others have described the zoo in great detail so I won't repeat what they said, but I will add my thoughts. The zoo is small, but very cozy, and the animal exhibits all seem roomy and well maintained. There are frequent demonstrations, shows, and feedings throughout the day... more

My husband and I had a few hours before going to a wedding and we serched for something to do. After spending the maximum hour walking downtown, fighting th crowds at the caverns (we left .. the line was too long and it way too expensive for just a few hours) We decided to go check out the reptile center/... more

The venomous snake show is amazing as he holds a king cobra, rattlesnake and the aggressive copperhead. He doesnt pinch the snake behind the head, he lets the snake move freely in his hands. This is amazing. I recommend it to everybody. You have never seen anything like this on TV or anywhere else. more

The zoo is wonderful. Mark and Jen are so comitted to the care and well being of these beautiful animals. We went on a Friday and were so captivated by the zoo, we returned on Saturday and spent the whole day. We truly appreciated the opportunity to learn about the animals and their care and history from Mark and Jen.... more

This is a small zoo owned and operated by Mark and Jennifer Kilby. The first part is the reptile exhibit and is indoors. The other animals are outdoors in cages, with a petting area that has goats and other friendly farm animals that stick their heads through the fence to be hand fed. The entire zoo is clean, well kept,... more

We just visited the Luray Zoo a few weeks ago after moving to Luray 3 years ago. We are glad we did! They have really made this place into a special little zoo. The owners are great and you can tell they put their whole lives into this place. They really love their animals. This is a rescue zoo so... more
