If you are planning a trip with the family this is the place. It has grills all over the park, public swimming pool in summer, baseball field all over, tennis courts, duck pond, play grounds, flower exhibits, animal farm, volley ball, basketball, a place to go bike riding and skating. Cost 3-5 dollars to get in per car.

Duck ponds, walking trails, tennis courts, playgrounds, baseball diamonds, swimming pool, farmer's market, a great zoo and the holiday Bright Nights... what more could you ask for in a local park?? Great family destination, we take advantage of it year-round.

Well worth the wait. We went on a very busy night. It's huge, keeps going on and on...Hint, we came from the highway. I'd drive past it and come from the other side like you live there... the wait is far less!

Springfield and Holyoke must have been something great in 1935. Forest Park used to be a beautiful place where people could hike or spend a quietly satisfying Sunday afternoon. Alas, no more. This entire area has economically collapsed leaving very little if anything to recommend it. The poverty and crime rates are among the highest in the country. I wouldn't... More

For those who don't know, this is one of the largest city parks in the country. It was designed by the renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead. Although it hasn't received the investment in maintenance that it deserves it still is a remarkable place to walk, picnic and take pictures. Children will enjoy the ducks and geese on the several... A day in the park for family that enjoys being active - walking, hiking, frizbee, baseball etc. Park zoo is superior, but...has a cost. Consult libraries for free passes

Hosts a variety of family-oriented events throughout the year. I especially enjoyed the car show last summer and the "Bright Nights" holiday lighting display at Christmas time. The grounds are also very well-maintained and clean.
