Only runs during the spring flows. Imagine fog made of mud, and then driving through it on a muddy road. If you have kids who like mud, this is da bomb.

It will take you about an hour and a half to get there, traveling east then north from Flagstaff. It is in the middle of nowhere, but is worth the trip when the water levels are up and the falls are spectacular. You are better off with an SUV but a car will make the trip if you drive carefully.
(note: I actually visited in April 2010, but there was no option to enter a date prior to May 2011). Many people visit Grand Falls only to find it dry or running at just a trickle. If you want to know ahead of time how the water is flowing, go to this link: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/az/nwis/current/?type=flow

Amazing . See what mother nature is able to provide for us to see... A natural wonder

It is a pretty drive and makes an adventure to find the falls. A bit tricky to find the dirt road -- but worth the drive. Take a picnic...

Gotta go in the Spring, give yourself time to drive and drive and drive appearing to go no where. And then....BOOM! Really cool place to visit.
Very isolated Falls are only during very heavy winter runoff or heavy monsoon rain
Many places to walk and visit and see the river. Call ranger to make sure there is water flowing in the river and the long dirt road is passble
We decided to go see the grand falls on our way home, after I had read some of the reviews. But our experiance was a little different. We were in our car an toyato avalon. We had read about a little wash board on the dirt road. But I must say that is an understatement. The entire road is washboard...
