You have to visit at different times of year to get a feel for the life cycle of the prairie. Too bad we dont have more natrual spaces like this to give us a look at what this land was like before being paved over.

Lots of acres of real kansas prairie that is still maintained with tall grass ranges. Authentic stone buildings from the civil war era. Gaze at real bison herd and walk the native terrain. A good days visit but bring comfortable shoes and clothing, this is truly rustic.

This preserve offers a lesson in natural history and ecology. This prairie used to span 140 million acres and now less than 4 percent remains, so this park plays a vital role in safeguarding it.
