For us, this was a highlight of the trip because of the staff who took time to give us more of a tour than we probably would have otherwise gotten. They were clearly from the area and knew a lot about everything Medora. We appreciated the trip here and the carriage ride as well. Fun part of the trip.
I manage the motel in Wibaux, MT. Pierre Wibaux was the only successful cattleman. The Chateau is the legacy of the Marquise family and Medora. The town was named after this lovely red headed lady. I had the pleasure of being a tour guide in 2009 and help out from time to time.
Tour a Chateau with interpreters throughout the House, Porch, Dining Room, Kitchen, Pantry, Scullery, Servants Quarters, Hunting Room, Marquis and Marquise's Study and Living Room with furnishings of the era. Built in 1883.

My wife and I visited the Chateau de Mores State Historical Site on August 28, 2011 while camping at Theodore Roosevelt National Park, South Unit. The visit was one of the highlights of our trip and the story of the Marquis de Mores and his wife Medora was amazing! The museum and film are well done. But the center attraction...

We have been to Medora several times, but this was our first time visiting this state historic site. The entrance fee was $7.00 that includes the visitor center, museum and a guided tour of the 26 room summer house built in 1883. First we watched a short film explaining the area and the house that the Marquis de Mores built...

We toured the Chateau de Mores home on Aug. 8, 2010. Very knowledgable staff. Many furnture items in the home are original along with much of the personal items. Great to see a home that is over 125 years old still in its original state & location. If you enjoy the old west, I would highly recommend it! Plan to...

The guides were friendly & knowledgeable. Everything was clean & neat. The rooms were completely furnished.
Both of our tour guides at the Chateau were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We enjoyed learning about the eccentric Marquis and his wife. The little town of Medora was unknown to us world travelers, but we found even five days was not enough to see and do evereything: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the quite professional Medora Musical,a world class golf course...
