Plan your trip to see us by visiting our website for a full list of upcoming events, tours, and other information. The Buffalo Central Terminal opened to the public on June 22, 1929. Built by the New York Central Railroad and designed by architects Alfred T. Fellheimer & Steward Wagner, the art deco style station was built to accommodate up to 3200 passengers per hour, or 200 trains per day. The complex consists of the main concourse, a 17 story office tower, a four story baggage building and two story mail building along Curtiss Street, and the now detached train concourse. The complex sits on a 17 acre site 2.5 miles east of downtown Buffalo. The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) was founded in 1997 to oversee the stabilization and restoration of the Central Terminal. Local preservationist Scott Field acquired the 18-acre site, including concourse, tower, and four story baggage building along Curtiss Street, from Samuel Tuchman and B.C.T Inc. for $1 plus the assumption of back taxes owed to the City of Buffalo. The CTRC is an entirely volunteer organization with no paid staff. We rely on grant money, government funds, and donations to continue work on the building and to hold public events. We are a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. « less

Dyngus Day is a blast. They also put on a great Oktoberfest.

What a mild day this year! After watching the parade-very hometown and great fun, we walked to the Cetnral Terminal for yet another Dyngus Day Celebration. This year the lines were very long-limited by 4,000 capacity-but worth the wait! The building itself is awe-inspiring! In need of great repair but much improved over the last 6 years I have attended...the music... More

I attended a special tour of the Terminal as part of a recent conference. It was truly a magnificent space. After decades of neglect, it will need much work and millions to be brought back but the organization in charge is doing great work. I highly recommend if you can get inside during their tours or other special events held... More

An unusal place to go for an event. It's almost like attending an event in a ruin. Interesting to look at. They held a "Swing" event there in 2011. It was really fun.

An amazing and awesome building from the Art Deco era. Currently being restored. Tons of work needed. Will take loads of money to complete.

This highly decorated station was a destination for 200 trains a day. When Amtrak abandoned it to a new"buyer" He stripped the dignity and beauty. The Not for pfofit has done a magnificent job of slowing the death by restoring many features. I would hope if HiSpeed rail returns this could present a refurbished gem for the RR systems

No longer in use but being renovated by a motivated non-profit group this is a must see for all rail fans out there. Located in an urban section on the east side of Buffalo the history of this building is special. Do a little research on the building before you go. it isn't open to the public yet but just... More

I'd only heard of the terminal after watching Ghosthunters and thought it would be a fun sunday outing. What an awesome building! It was over labor day and alot of other people must have had the same idea as the tour was divided in two. The guide obviously has emotional ties and his tour showed it. He took his time,... More
