We just returned from Newport, RI and went on the Newport Dinner Train. My husband and I attended the Friday evening Cabaret dining. We boarded the Train at 6pm and our waitress introduced herself as did the entertainer. They took cocktail orders so we could enjoy a drink before the train departed. Newport Dinner Train was a MAJOR disappointment. Paid the extra $25 for a "First Class" table and was promised a water view. Did NOT get the ocean side - so the view was primarily weeds and parking lots. Food very good. Service OK. Did I mention the TOILET backed up?? A few pointers - if you're a couple ask for a booth or else you get stuck in one of the side tables. You're treated as though you bought a discount ticket - don't get a bread basket but one roll and the waiters seem to wait attentively on those in the booths.
