Really took my breath away. Beautiful works of art. Just loved it and the grounds were beautiful out back. Well worth the trip!
Very comfortable wonderful old home is now the museum, and couldn't have been restored and adapted better. We went for Dora Atwater Millikin's exhibit, which was beautifully hung.
View the older building first then the modern one - interesting collections with some local artists too.
I agree with another reviewer when I say the building is just as amazing, if not more, than the art contained inside. My husband and I went to a murder mystery at the art museum and because we arrived a half an hour early, they invited us to look around- for free! You feel like you are in another world,...

We took our kids to Newport Art Museum last summer and had a ball. There was an outdoor event on the lawns with facepaint, booths with local artists works.... we love the buildings and the program and our kids loved it (which is saying alot!). We plan on going back again this summer.
We visit small art museums wherever we travel. This was definitely worth the time. A number of important pieces of American art and a number of pieces by less well know artists that were very interesting. Worth a few hours for those interested in American art.
We visited this museum when it was in between exhibitions, but the permanent collection is worth the visit. Additionally, the house itself is an excellent example of a large Victorian stick house. It was restored at considerable cost a few years ago and is extremely attractive to those who love Victorian architecture.
We visited the Newport Art Museum during a time of renovation and installation of new exhibits so we were not able to visit 2 of the 3 buildings.
