The four-hour scenic ride includes views of Sinagua Indian ruins, waterfowl, wildlife and a 680-foot man-made tunnel. The train follows the upper Verde River and is ideally situated above the heat of the desert and below the cold of Arizona’s high country. In the spring and summer see Great Blue Heron and black hawks; fall and winter bring brightly-colored foliage and the arrival of migratory bald and golden eagles. « less

My wife and I took friends on the Verde Canyon because we had enjoyed it so much every time we were on it. The 4 hour trip (in and out of Verde Canyon) was full of beautiful view view after beautiful view. We were in first class where the service was excellent. Every car had access to an outdoor observation... More

Probably no other way to see this canyon. The train is large but you'll need to reserve. We did see some people buying tickets there. We went coach class but there are outdoor gondolas that accommodate. If you have a hat, make sure it has a chin strap. Very picturesque. The constant background of train songs was amusing at first... We had a wonderful time. First class is awesome, champagne toast (kind of hokey, but what the heck). Comfortable seats especially if you are in a group of 4 because you can put your feet up. We went ona a warm day, and I can't handle the heat, but it was comfortable inside the first class car. The scenery is... More

We had a great time (went first class to get food, etc.). The people working for the railroad were all very friendly and take good care of you. We started with potatoe chips, apple cider and/or champagne (free) then switch over to some really good and large margaritas ($7 and worth it). The food comes out after you get rolling... More

We have done this trip 5 times. Sedona area, Clarksdale, AZ. 2 hours in and 2 hours out of the Verde Canyon. Breathtaking. First class ticket, well worth it, but if you can, rent the caboose. Just a little more. 6 people max and very special attention from Ferman your private guide and host. The food is good and plenty... More

First Class tickets get you a champaign toast, munchies, and comfy seating. Everyone on the train gets access to open cars to take in the views. Staff is knowledgable and helpful.

After reading these reviews, I thought the trip would be good, but marginally so. I loved it, a great way to experience the incredible landscape, history, and nature. Definitely sit on the right (it is the left side while boarding, right side when facing the engine). There is a lot more to see on that side. Buy the book because... More

We really this 4 hr. excursion. We opted for First Class and felt it was worth the extra few bucks for the additional comfort. The cars were roomy with either sofa seating for groups of 3-4 or table searing for 2. The table side has the best views but large windows afford good views on both sides. There are also... More

We chose to ride first class. The carriage was only partly booked so we had a choice of seating. The food was good and there was plenty available. We received a small champagne after we boarded and were given a complimentary bottle of champagne as it was our honeymoon. Our drink tab was only $10-two beers, a cider and coffee!... More

We went first class, so the snack was more than adequate for a lunch. The attendants were very friendly and informative. The scenery was outstanding. We would have like to see some wild life.
