Awesome views, one part tough climb using the stairs. Use alt way and you will be much happier. Go left and not right and you will miss those killer stairs. Go early, no later then 0830 I would say due to parking. Bring water and wear a hat.
bring water...bring water...bring water!!!
Also, wear walking/hiking shoes. After reading reviews, this became one of the things on our "to do list". It's listed as a moderate hike for people in average condition...I would say with the exception of people that are "athletic" it's a bit challenging. Maybe it's the heat/humidity...but most people were looking pretty tired by the top...

We stopped by this place without special expectation. However, it was something! You can see a great view of not just Waikiki but also the other side. Just bring a bottle of water and camera!
The average person with average walking ability should be able to get to the lookout at the top without too much effort. Start in the morning, at least by 8 am before it get's too hot, take your time along the way to admire the views. It's incredible to see the crater inside Diamond Head and the view from the...

Wow!The view is spectacular once you get to the top, but it's a long climb. Most of the trail is paved, but it's a continual uphill climb, and not for the fainthearted. We went early in the morning and were still very hot and sweaty. However, if you're up for a hike, it's definitely worth it. All along the trail...

Diamond head is not only beautiful, it is an adventure. After insisting every step of the way that I couldnt make it to the top; I made it! It was an experience I would have been disappointed to miss. The view is phenomial and the rush of climbing the high makes the sore feet worth it!
This is a worthwhile place to visit. If you're older and not in shape pace yourself on the way up. When you get to the top before the final 90 steps, go to the left and go up the down ramp. It's a lot easier. This will give you a fabulous view of Honolulu.
