Good to see a lot of the plants, trees, and flowers in one place. Very tranquil and relaxing. Walking distance from downtown and Chinatown.

Well labelled garden with lots of unusual trees and some of the more common ones we'd been seeing. En route to the airport from Waikiki
We took the city bus to Foster Botanical Gardens from our hotel in Waikiki. We enjoyed this morning outing. My husband loves photography and took many pictures there. We had read about needing bug spray (which we took) but did not really need it.
While visiting Honolulu we had some free time and decided to go on a little adventure instead of the beach. I had read the reviews by others of this place and even though they were mixed I thought it might be worth the trip. We didn't have a rental car so we figured out how to take the bus, the...

Right in the middle of downtown Honolulu is one of the nicest botanical gardens in the state. Quiet, peaceful, and well worth the admission.

Only worth seeing 2 weeks out of year? Unless you like trees... Flowers only bloom early April. The Buddhist shrine next door they were rude? Nice Karma please rename it Foster Tree museum hardly a botanical garden. The small plots outside were more interesting and it was free,
Serene & well-maintained Hawaii plant museum. Fairly well-curated, helpful map.
It is surprising to find this oasis in the middle of urban Honolulu, and the best part is that it is only blocks and minutes away from my favorite part of Honolulu: Chinatown. Spend an afternoon at the Garden's and then go into Chinatown for an inexpensive Chinese, Thai, Filipino, or Viet Namese meal.
