It is a very protected swimming beach. It is still part of the Pacific but protected by a reef formation. It is basically a huge salt water pool. You can't feel the current or surges and there are no waves except those generated in high wind and storms. It is a great spot for the family to visit the beach... More

It's great exercise to walk the beach one way and swim back the other way. The fresh water showers are especially COLD!

Protected swimming areas, no waves - perfect for small children. If you snorkel along the rocks on the far side of the swimming area you will see fish. The water isn't always very clear though. Lots of shady areas to cool off and get out of the sun. Ala Moana Mall is right across the street for plenty of places... More

There's something for everyone at this park-----beautiful, safe beach, tennis courts, picnic areas, running paths, etc. Locals and visitors hang out there.

Our hotel had a very small workout room so I chose to run at Ala Moana Beach Park. I loved soaking in the local flavor: people fishing off of the shore, boot camps in the sand, tai chi in the park. There is nothing like seeing the ocean and breathing in the salty air as you run. Both paved running... More

We prefer to go to this beach during the week days. The beach area is very large with clean white sand. The water is clear and easy to swim in because of the reef that blocks the large waves. You can swim laps or just frolicke in the water or wind surf. Can use floatation devises including a raft. Lifeguards... More

We walked to this park, after visiting the Ala Moana Mall across the street. In the afternoon, the park was filled with people having picnics or exercising. Also there was a canoe club having competitions.

It's a great beach, just like Waikiki. Across from the Ala Moana Shopping center, easy to get to. Popular with locals.

While growing up, Ala Moana Beach Park was clean, beautiful, and the true family park to spend the day. After moving away for 30 years and returning, the park is now home to many homeless tents and camps. The grounds are not well maintained and no longer safe to walk after sunset. A tragedy.
