We were up and out the door early to arrive at Hanauma Bay at 0645 as suggested. The park opens at 0600 but it was dark at that hour (and chilly!). The great part was that all the employees are not there until 0700 so we got in free and did not have to watch a movie and there was... more

We left our hotel in Waikiki at about 9 AM and were almost shut out of the parking lot by the time we arrived at 9:45. After we had waited in line to pay the fee, we were the first ones to have to wait for the next movie....at 10:30. By the time we got down to the bottom and... more

We loved it here! We saw a variety of fish all very colorful! We even got to see a turtle! There were lockers to rent which i liked, and you could also rent snorkeling gear there (we brought our own from the hotel we were at). They had lifeguards and other staff around as well that you could ask about... more

Because my husband was in a conference, we could only go in the afternoon but it worked out fine. It is a long trip on the 22 bus from Waikiki but an entrepreneurial cab driver pulled up the bus stop and offered to bring us for $5 pp - Great deal! We got there at 2PM and there was no... more

We set off early in our rental car or so we thought that we were early!!! Once we got here (had a few stops along the way), we arrived at 9.40am and the officer at the entrance just waved us on. I asked her how could we get in and she said that you have to keep driving up and... more

We went to Hanauma Bay because my husband was nervous about snorkeling for only the 2nd time. This place is VERY non-threatening AND has great fish. We saw dozens and dozens of different kinds of fish - lots of colors. The water is VERY salty, which makes snorkeling easy because you float easily. Yes, it costs $7.50 pp (plus $1... more

We visited Hanauma Bay 15 years ago and loved it but things have changed quit a bit. They have done alot of changes. The coral and fish are not as spectacular, perhaps all the construction is effecting the coral reef. Also, there used to be just a parking fee and it was not expensive. The entrance fee of $7.50 per... more

We just got back from a trip to Hawaii. At Oahu, we went snorkeling in Hanauma Bay and it was fantastic. I am not a strong swimmer but it felt safe and I had a great time. We saw lots of different marine life. Few tips: - Do yourself a favor - *Definitely go early. The park opens at 6... more

I went to Hanauma Bay later in the afternoon hoping to miss the crowd and it was perfect! We got there watched a short video everyone has to watch before going down to the beach about the different kinds of fish and some general rules, it was actually not too much of a bore and really informative. Then we got... more
