Cincinnati is worth a visit just for the Center in my view. We were passing through Cincinnati as a stopover to Nashville and our hotel recommended the Center. We were pleasantly surprised. I think the Center does a good job of presenting the issues with interesting media presentations as well as firsthand accounts. I enjoyed that the Center also presented... more

After visiting the Rankin House we headed to Cincinnati to visit the National Railroad Freedom Center. This museum is very well done. There is a movie which shows what it would have been like to escape slavery at night, a slave pen, interactive displays, hands on activities, bascially everything you could want in a musuem. I have visited the Smithsonian... more

Wary of previous reviews, we were startled to find such a moving topic almost completely ignored by its own museum. There was so little about the actual underground railroad and its impact to those that ran it, those that escaped, and the impact on the communities where the escaped slaves settled. Obsessed with telling minute details of slavery, the museum... more

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is a MUST see. The information is provided in a logical order that helps you understand the context of historical events. There is an overwhelming amount of information provided... and a person could easily spend two days there (providing they read everything). Also, there are several neat films/experiences that put you in the action.... more

I was expecting much more. Not a bad place for a school trip or something like that, but not a good place for a family vacation destination. I can't believe they used that location for a museum when it would have been perfect for bars / restaurants / live entertainment after the ballgames. more

This museum is a great experience. It was beautifully designed, the displays were well done and the staff was fantastic. The hand held listening devices help hold the attention of both of our daughters ( 9 & 11 ). It was captivating learning experience for all of us. We spoke at length later on that day about slavery and injustice... more

This was a fantastic learning experience. Some aspects might be a bit intense for younger children, and, as has been noted, there's a lot of reading. Allow enough time: we were there over 4 hours and still had to skip a few exhibits. There were several school groups there the day we went: let them get on ahead of you... more

The museum was excellent and very informative. I will definitely take my family back to see it. Make sure you have time if you want to see everything and not rush. It took me about 4 hours to watch all the films and see all the exhibits. It was interactive and would be fun for the kids. It has a... more

We loved the architecture of this building, especially in the setting. Too bad they don't have any good postcard views; we didn't have our camera. I love museums, and this is a subject that is very dear to me, but it seemed like there was just tons of text everywhere. I did appreciate what clearly was a lot of work... more
