It was a sunny August day when we did the hike, so we were prepared for many people and there were many people on the way to the top of Vernal Fall. Start early in the day to avoid the crowds. We did not stop at Vernal Fall but continued to the top of Nevada Fall. It was very steep... more

We decided to go with a guided hike to go to the top of Vernal Falls and then back down another way. Since we didn't stay very long we wanted to have someone get us to the best spots in the park. We booked through the Mtn. school and the cost was well worth it ($40). It was a 6... more

It took us about an hour and half. The second half past the bridge is somewhat strenuous, but do take your time, drink lots water, and take lots of pictures along the way. You can see a beautiful rainbow next to the fall. Bring some food for a picnic by the beautiful pool, if you don't mind the persistent squirrels... more

How about this! It is where I wanted to go for the big 55, and hike up Vernal Falls! It was awesome, my friend and I hiked up it, and enjoyed it very much. It reminds me, on the last leg of the trip up of the ruins in Peru. Very thankful that I hiked it! Wow we both did! more

Vernal Falls is sort of like the first leg of your hike if your hiking up Half Dome. Its only about 1.5 miles from the trailhead so round trip its short. Only real strenuous part is the last part when you get to the base of the falls and the steps start heading up. Just go slow, take your time,... more

Whew, it was a tough climb at times, but once you make reach the top you will be glad you did it. There are various stages along the way, the first bridge that gives you a great view of the waterfall from a distance, stairs, the "mist" area which during a time when the water volume is high you will... more

This was a really fun hike but when we came around that corner and saw all those stairs you have to climb to the top our mouths dropped wide open and they kept on going and going.. But we made it and was it ever worth every single step we took.. It's about a 3 mile round trip to the... more

I was visiting Yosemite from Australia and went on a hike to Vernal Fall. I do not regret doing the hike at all and I now look at the photos and video footage I took along the way and they are nothing compared to actually going there and doing the hike. The views I got from the top of the... more

I've never been especially enthusiastic about stuff like camping or the Great Outdoors in general, but Yosemite Valley really is a magical place. And to get the full effect you have to do at least one or two of the day hikes that ascend from the valley floor. Vernal Fall, for example, is only visible after you make a two-... more
