My husband and I went to New Zealand in December 2011 for our honeymoon. We toured all over the country (both islands), and my favourite tour we did was the Eco Wanaka Adventure, with Chris as our tour guide. From seeing the Moa bird bone that he found to learning about the different types of native plants found on the... More

The Eco Wanaka tour with Chris was the highlight of our honeymoon at NZ. His knowldge & care for his patrons was brilliant & we will definately be back again with the family next time! I would recommend this well above Shot Over jet & other expensive tours as real local knowldge & one on one connection to make sure... More

We were lucky enough to have a private tour with Chris as we were the only starters in the afternoon. A beuatiful sunny day with a flat lake made it perfect conditions. Chris is enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The climb on the island not too strenuous and the views well worth it. Wally the Weka whilst a little timid will... More

Thanks for the glowing review, great to have Kiwis from the busy end of the country see their own contrasting land. I defected south many years ago. This island with it's special and quirky wildlife, and 360 degree views with no houses up or down the Alps and lake around us is a very rare thing in the world these... More

Chris Riley from Eco Wanaka Advetures New Zealand provides a fabulous afternoon experience of a boat cruise across the beautiful Lake Wanaka and nature walk on Mou Waho Island with panaramic views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains and valleys. The tour was fascinating, educative and intriguing. Chris's knowledge of the harsh forces (natural and man-made) that have shaped... More

Thanks for your kind words, just an update on the gossip of these nosey, naughty flightless birds-Our veteran character, Wally Weka has now finally figured out that the see-through Cookie Box is impenetrable with his beak! -See our website for video. His partner, Sally Weka has been noticably absent from our tea parties, due to suspected incubation period of their... More

Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide to island sanctuary Mou Waho, where extremely endangered Bluff Wekas are thriving. Absolutely beautiful and very informative. Next to the Milford Track, the best thing we did in New Zealand.

I visited Wanaka with my two children, ages 11 and 9, and wanted to get out and do some of the spectacular walks in nearby Mt. Aspiring National Park. I thought about self-guiding -- there are dozens of books with walks at any NZ bookshop and you can pick up a topo map at the DOC office in town --... More

Initially I was doubtful about this tour. It costs NZD $180 pp to go and see a lake - in New Zealand mind - a place chock a block full of lakes. With islands. With Lakes. What could be more rivetting? As I was dragged along by my beloved to the Marina in Lakeside road , Wanaka, for the 9.00am... More

The half day spent with Chris was an unforgetable experience. From planting a tree to being followed by the wonderful Waka birds on this special reserve island it was all exceptionally good. We learnt so much from chris who has immense knowledge - and not only of New Zealand ( ask him about Polar bears !)

Hey, thanks for the glowing comments, these Flightless birds on this island are definitely characters, great for you to get a "heads up" on how their territorial, and quirky personality comes out in their very nosey and comical behavior. Yes-Thank god there are no polar bears on this island, or Antarctica for that matter! Best seen in arctic Canada, but... More
