We found the Castle fascinating. It was our first stay at a Castle. The rooms were spacious, but sparsely furnished. We were a bit surprised to find the heat in the Castle was provided by in-room kerosene heaters. Aside from the smell of the Kerosene heaters that seemed to overwhelm the room, going to the bathroom located just outside the... more

We got married at Pieve Di Santa Maria A Spaltenna and our entire wedding party stayed at Castello di Meleto. It was an amazing experience! The Castle is incredibly beautiful and centrally located in the Chianti Region. Make sure to also go to Solissimo Restaurant, which is part of the Lucignano Castle (http://www.castellodilucignano.com/). Chef Lorenzo is amazing and the service... more

We stayed at the Castle in September 2007 on our honeymoon. the staff is unwelcoming and not helpful at all. the grounds of the castle are beautiful, and the room #4 in the castle is fair. It is not very clean or safe. Tiles from the shower fell on my husband's foot and put a big gash in it. The... more

Stayed in a one bedroom self-catering apartment, Limonaia 1, on the grounds of Castello di Meleto for the last week of April, 2007. We found the accommodation to be charming, of a high standard, clean, and so romantic! Our own little patio with table and chairs overlooked the breathtakingly beautiful Chianti countryside. There is so much to visit close by,... more

What a wonderful wedding we had ad Castello Meleto! All the staff were most gracious and helpful and we've heard nothing but raves about the entire weekend. Thank Penny so much for all that you did personally to assist us. Michael is very excited about going to work at the new restaurant at Castello. He calls it a "dream job".... more

My wife and I had a wonderful experience here. The price was just right and the room we stayed in was more than adequate. We would definitely recommend this castle to stay in. We found Castello Di Meleto because it was a winery and a castle. We really wanted to stay in a castle. However…the only review we could find... more

Recently my husband and I visited Chianti during the harvest period. Instead of staying in a hotel we opted for what the Italians call an “Agriturismo” called Castello di Meleto in Gaiole in Chianti. It was actually a very old castle (about 800 years old!) on top of a hill overlooking the valley of Gaiole and surrounded by vineyards and... more

I just wanted to let know, that we really enjoyed our stay at Meleto. My doughter and I will have lots of nice memories of the time we spent there. All the travel help and advices and the wine tour and guided tour through the Castle was very informative. We really appreciated it as did my sister. We have already... more

We (two couples from Ohio) arrived late and Penny stayed to greet us. That was the only nice thing about our stay. We never saw her again. I agree with all of the previous review. The staff was so rude until we paid our bill. They never even said good mornig to us. never told us about a wine tasting... more
