Oh it is so spectacular to see nature at its rawest. It is something that no-one should miss if travelling in New Zealand. I was actually born near Waitomo and have seen it before but it never fails to amaze me. Mind you I have not seen it since I was a young kid but it still amazes me. It... More

Never knew anything about these glowwurms and all was explained We "did" all 3 caves in the area, which our New Zealand friend organised, a bit much for my old knees bur worth it! We should have just taken the main one with the boat, less walking and beautifull in the dark and quiet with just the glow worms on... More

We went as a party of 8 with 4 kids (9-14yrs) and it was the first cave we visited. Aroha was our guide and she was very interesting to listen to. There is quite a bit of standing around listening to the history and learning about the caves, but the short boat ride made it all worth while. There wasnt... More

I remember a large, forested centre, lined with wooden posts and a giant net above it. There they had an information centre to find out more about the glow worms. There was a short wait for us, before a guide led us through a short, forested walk, down to the cave entrance. Security doors and a low light descent followed... More

Our family decided to visit the caves on a spur of the moment decision. We did not regre our choice in the least. It was a very good mix of exploration and wonder as we were led into the caves. The kids loved it (who wouldn't when you have little lights above your head) and couldn't get enough of it.... More

Visiting the caves is a really fun experience! Despite being a little claustrophobic, I'm glad I faced my fear and did the black water rafting through the caves. Wonderful guides! Do something you might never do again.

While in the "cathedral" our guide suggested we sing a song - our group leader began a NZ folk song, and soon other NZ travelers joined in - What a special moment for us from the USA. Glad to see that this entire business is owned and operated by NZ native families. A nice memory from a beautiful country. Thank... More

Our guide was very good. She explained the geography and science behind the glow worm and caves, and made it very interesting for us. It didnt feel like a touristy sight-see cave tour, but overall a fun, interesting adventure.
