Surprisingly gentle - freehanging in a massive void... bouncing a bit because of the sheer length of the rope. The roar of the Mangapu river echoes up from caverns far below. Climb back over slabs of rock and ladders. Excellent glowworms. Min age 10 yrs. No experience required. Operator has over 24 years of safe operation and is Qualmark Endorsed. « less

100 meter abseil is epic. The ladder climb out is a lot of work. It's truly another world but I recommend the 7 hour for the complete adventure package.

My husband and I had an amazing experience in the Caves at Waitomo on the Lost World Adventure. Our guide, Scott, could not have been nicer! Safety was number one, which we greatly appreciated. Scott was informative as well as patient as we overcame our fears and abseilled into the Cave for 300 feet! We were lucky enough to have... More

After 20 mins of waiting for departure of the tour we went back to the counter. We have been that we are waiting for 4 other people. Finally, after 30 mins they decided to leave with the two uf us. A trainee joined us. We arrived at the abseiling point where we got attached to the trainee. So far, the... More

I'm sorry to hear that the abseil was too slow for you. From our point of view, the abseil is not just about adrenalin, it is also about visiting one of NZ's most beautiful places. For this reason (& for safety) we take our time descending into the massive chasm. This allows people to look around into upper levels of... More

The introduction of safety was good. They also asked me if i have experience in Abseiling and i told them that I did a lot of climbing back home and i'm familiar with abseiling. After the first meters of the 100m Abseil they asked me if i'm ok and i told them it's too slow for me. Nothing changed... we... More

My husband and I took the 4 Hour Lost World Abseil Adventure. It was challenging and breath-taking. It was just my husband & I for the tour so we had the full attention from our guide, Dean. He was very informative and pleasant to be with. Safety was top of mind and I never had any concerns throughout the experience.... More

The rappell was awesome! It took about 15 minutes to get all the way down to the cave floor. Be warned that the only way to get out of the cave is to climb a very steep, very long ladder. It took me about 10 minutes to get up to the top, & my arms were sooo tired! But it's... More

We got the VIP trip as we were the only ones in our 4 hour tour. No waiting for other and no crowd. The cave was absolutely beautiful and the tourguide nice and professional (careful with the security stuff and knew a lot of the nature etc.). we would recommend this anytime!!

I can't say enough about this tour! truly amazing....we ended up going when the water was running at it's highest, so we defintely were in for a challenge, but boy did it feel good! I went with my husband and twin 15yr.old boys. We all said this was our favorite activity in new zealand, 2nd was bungy jumping. It is... More

Wow a must if your not scared of heights. Felt so safe as Scott our leader checked everything all of the time. Never done anything like this before but what a fantastic experience abseiling 300ft thru mist to the floor of a cave and then winding our way upwards thru the cave system and a very long ladder in Scotts... As birthday treats go, they don't get much better than this. Someone said Tom Cruise has been four times which is a pretty good endorsement in itself - come on people be nice!. It's three hours eachway from Auckland in Bank Holiday traffic so we only had time for the four hour (dry) adventure but it was one of few... More
