The village of Roussillon itself is pretty awesome, especially when it comes alive on market day. Take the time to walk up and enjoy the view from the lookout. But the Ocher Trail was much better than anything I expected. The path is much more extensive than you would guess from outside and the best and most interesting rock formations are on the longer path. 100% worth the entrance fee

The colour of the ochre here is just amazing. I was a little dubious about paying to go in but it was certainly worth it. You can see some cliffs without going into the park but nowhere near the same. Take your time and take the longer path, it's really not that much longer although the map makes it look... More

The stones gave the name, from antiquity they are used to make colours for painters and houses. Some workshop may show you the process to obtain them
