We visited the Mining Museum not quite knowing what to expect. It turner out to be one of the best decisions we took durning our stay on Milos. After visiting the old Sulphur Mine and the newer opencast mine a visit here puts everything into perspective the collection of minerals and onld mining equipment is extensive. The film of the... I did not have high expectations for a museum about mining (Milos's primary industry) but it was actually extremely well presented and very informative and interesting. We spent well over an hour touring the museum which isn't all that big. The exhibits were in both Greek and English. We especially liked the films in the basement that run on a... More

My wife and I walked to the museum the morning we were leaving while the kids slept in. It was worth the walk. Not a large museum but it explains the geology and all the history of the mining of the island.

The whole island is a museum of geology! The mining history begins from the prehistoric ages... Obsidian, sulfur, manganese, perlite... The museum is very rich, you can imagine why. The inly thing that bothers me is that the nuseum is fonded by the minning industry of the island S&B which in my opinion shiyld stop digging all these dreadful holes... More

a nisce, small museum that is just communicating the will of the Milos inhabitants to mantain the memories of the past. The economy of the island is mainly based on the mining activity, and it is very nice to see how this activity has been developing and impacting on the life several generation. Nice to see all the plan for... More

Nice small museum, well organised and easy to access. Ticket is 3 euros per adult and it takes about 45 to get around. Nice videos about the life of the miners, that can give you an idea of the life of the inhabitants before tourists came. Nice souvenirs also.

i visited the mining museum in Milos in June, 2008 and paid 3 Euro to visit 3 floors-I learned so much about the geology of the island of Milos and along with the boat trip around the island the previous day it all came together as a wonderful experience. The museum tells all about the history of mining to the... More
