This Fortress is extremely interesting, and huge, so plan to spend at least a couple of hours here, and bring some good shoes. It can get very hot in the summer, so bring water (though that's a given for anywhere on the island in summer). It has a lot of history, so anyone interested in Naval History so for sure...

Our second visit to La Mola and found it as interesting as the first visit. Allow a good 2-3 hours to see it all. Fab!!

A huge place to visit. Excellent place to visit if you are interested in Naval history. Wear good walking shoes - you'll need to walk miles to appreciate the full fort.

La Mola is a massive fortress that took a couple of hundred years to build and was obsolete by the time it was finished. It was subsequently used to house political prisoners during the Spanish Civil War, a very bleak time in the nation's history and seldom mentioned.
