I have visited the Thorpe park for the halft term holidays beginning this year. I have bought the tickets online in advance online to avoid a queu at the entrance, but unfortunately i wasn't the only one with this idea. OK if you want to use public transport there is a frequent bus from staines station, £3.00 return, and of course frequent trains to London. If you have small children, give it a miss, this is for teenagers and young adults only. If you have younger kids take them to Chessington It is expensive for what you get which is a few thrillseeker rides with long queues, up to 1.5 hours for the best ones.
