As soon as there are enough guests for a tour, off you go. The guide shows you through the different buildings and explains implements and how the people lived way back then. Those tours are in German. If you need another language, check the website for times.

This is a great place to learn about how the people in this area lived about 5-6000 years ago, in the Stone Age. Inspite of very limited tools, they were quite ingenious and it's amazing what they were able to accomplish with what little they had. Very educational, very "hands-on" and real-life - highly recommended!

I loved this place. The only reason I gave it a four is during our visit the tour was in German only. Having said that, our guide was very gracious and we purchased an Englis booklet for 4 € that was very thorough. If they had an English speaking tour I would have asked a million questions. The recreations of... More

There is a small inside museum depicting facts of the local area, the influence of water, and some artifacts. Outside is the main attraction where you get a guided tour through early homes of the local people and how they progressed over time. No pictures inside the replicas. The view is great, the town is a quaint vacation spot. We... More

Very nicely done open air Museum, well worth a one hour detour. Be warned however that only part of the explanations are in English.

The whole meusem is very nice to visit but there are no activities to involve children at all. Any talking is done in German and the hosts make an extra effort to speak english at least at the door.

Pfahlbau Musuem, Unteruhldingen, is the name of a major tourist attraction on the shores of Lake Bodensee (aka Lake Constance). In 2006 there was apparently a German TV show where a couple of families lived for 8 weeks in the way their pre-historic ancestors did. A replica village was built on the Lake as a reminder of those days and... More
