Our son was married here a few years ago. Excellent venue and staff very pleasant. On site accommodation fro his new Ozzie in-laws was also excellent.

The trouble is when expectations differ from reality. The National Trust for Scotland's website said this about Castle Fraser: "Castle Fraser is one of the grandest of the Scottish baronial tower houses. Begun in 1575, the present castle contains an evocative Great Hall, fine furniture and many Fraser family portraits." The reality is that while the structure dates from the... More

This is the second time I have been to Castle Fraser for an evening meal. Both times have been wonderful and I can not fault them on anything. The setting in the evening is great and the food, divine. Having a wheat intolerance sometimes is an issue when dining out but the chef catered for me easily. BYOB also keeps... More

Great place to meet with kids with teepee in gardens and lots of fun outdoor things to do. Castle great and beautiful but can be a bit much for young children, terrifying being on the roof, but what a view. The restaurant downstairs in castle yard, incredible food and open at night for grown ups, but you need to book... More

Castle Fraser is located in a very serene location close to a little town of Inverurie. The drive to the castle is wonderful (although I can only speak to it for summer time), the small winding roads through fields and forrests are very picturesque. There is no charge to enter the castle property, only if you want to go inside... More

we stopped in to Castle Fraser on the way back from hiking Bennahee. the courtyard was rather non-descript and the (scottish) lassies i was with said that the interior was dark and it 'wasn't the best that could be seen' 'rather disappointing'. Still, they felt it would be a good place for 'tea'. unfortunately, we'd had our hearts set on... More

This castle is well preserved. We received a lot of historic information from the docents about the Fraser clan and general information about Scottish Clans.

Maybe it was because I had just seen Glamis Castle the day before, but I was disappointed with Castle Fraser and wished I had saved the time and money to see something else on my holiday. The castle exterior is nice but there was some construction work in the courtyard. If I remember correctly, an entrance that was put in... More

We used to visit Castle Fraser and the grounds regularly when the children were young but haven't been for at least 10 years. As we had visitors staying this weekend we decided to pop along to look at the grounds and have a coffee. First disappointment was what used to be a brillaint children's play area which had a fantasitc... More
