We enjoyed this garden with plenty of birds (some of them, like the Chinese chicken, we have seen for the first time) in aviaries and free, the nice garden and peaceful- friendly environment. Its good option for people that travel in that area, we wouldn’t recommend come especially for visit there from a long distance.

I have often driven past the turnoff to the Katikati Bird Gardens and said to my husband “Must go there one day!” We finally did get there last month while in Tauranga over Easter. These beautifully landscaped gardens cover around 10 acres and have a mix of formal and informal plots, ponds, fountains and artworks. About 50 species of birds... More

On a visit to NZ in February, we stayed here for 5 days. It was great, so peaceful, beautiful gardens, and we loved the birds. The cottage was well equipped, wifi worked great, and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast on the little outside deck was delightful, with ducks and peacocks for company. The gardens were great, and we didn't... More

Stayed 2 nights at the Cottage. Scott greeted us with a big smile and showed us to our cottage, very cosy for 2. It was a peaceful experience being surrounded by sounds of beautiful birds. Generous breakfast provisions included the first night but more than enough for our 2 nights stay. Adequately equipped kitchen to cook in. One bonus is... More

My husband went to check out this Katikati local attraction to see if we would refer our B & B guests to it. We really enjoyed our morning wandering around the garden and seeing all the lovely birds and several of them had chicks. We had a really nice lunch in the cafe and the coffee was excellent. The owner... More

Sitting in the cafe we had a very friednly peacock come visit us, wanting food of course but was great to get up close and personal. When we went outside with our bag of food the pidgeons, geese and others came arunnin'. If you dont like birds sitting on you then don't carry the bird food. Also good idea to... More

Gardens easy to follow well layed out. Plenty of noisy ducks, geese, hens follow you around with your $1 feed bag. Some native trees but most not signed which was needed. Lots of caged parrots and the endangered Kea which was amazing to see. Cockatoos (says hello and bye much fun had here), rainbow lorrikets, pheasants, budgies- not so special if... More

This is more a review of the accommodation. The beautiful bird gardens were a bonus for us this time. We needed a night away from routine - quiet, peaceful, relaxing. The Cottage at the Katikati Bird Gardens had it all. A lovely cottage in the grounds of the gardens. The facilities were excellent, the hosts friendly and efficient. After the... More

If you love gardens and birds, then do yourself a favour and visit the Kati Kati Bird Gardens. We chanced upon the gardens, and are so glad we did. The gardens are incredible, and the birdlife amazing and plentiful. The gardens are large enough to walk through comfortably without getting too exhausted towards the end.
