The Abbey is such an important part of Selby and such a beautiful place to visit. Well kept inside and out and very friendly people that work in and around the grounds.

Ideal if you like looking at historical buildings - theres a little shop and tea room in the abbey for refreshments and a souvenir
Well worth looking round, plus there's a remeberence area outside where the people were wiped out by cholera
Focal point in the town established by William around 1066, Allow more than an hour, good access.
Situated in the sleepy market town of Selby, this building is often overlooked by the many tourists who visit York to see similar historic sites. That is a great shame, as Selby Abbey has a charm all of its own, and the architecture can only be described as spectacular. Well worth a visit.
i used to work in a village 8 miles away bubwith, its a beautiful building. also very well lit at night when driving past.
Beautiful abbey church with fascinating history and, most important, a lively and friendly worshipping community. We enjoyed being there for the Sunday morning service then exploring the building.
A superb building, older than York Minster and well worth a visit. Beautiful.
