I ordered the venison, and the waitress explained that as the menu suggested, it is best cooked medium. I asked if she's sure about it because most grilled venison is served medium rare or rare. She said yes she's sure. Lo and behold the venison was tough and dry. When I pointed this out the waitress explained that venison is... More

We had been looking forward to visiting Mud House as it is one of the wines we can get in the States. We stopped in and went to the tasting counter. It wasn't busy, but the two staff seemed very engaged with a couple small groups. We stood in clear eye shot of the staff, but neither choose to recognize... More

We stopped there at the recommendation of a friend for a tasting and were pleasantly surprised. The gentleman who led our tasting did a phenomenal job of explaining the tasting process, quizzed on comparable grapes on what we liked, and did the perfect amount of selling. Highly recommend this experience from one of the larger makers of wine in Marlborough.... More

Saw a sign for a cafe and we were wanting to eat so stopped here. Didn't do any wine tasting due to driving but did have a light meal and the outdoor patio is a wonderful setting. Views of the vines and mountains are wonderful.

We had a good session of tasting the extensive Mud House wine list. The restaurant was full when we arrived, but slackened off by the time we were ready to eat. Unfortunately the food was ordinary and overpriced. Nice location. Wouldn't recommend.

31.12.11' we went Mud House lunch for farewell overseas family. Our guest found a feather in her mouth which was then discovered from the salad and there's more... When we went to pay the account, the waiter asked how our meal was like. We told him the terrible story and our guests are certainly very upset. There was NO even... More

Two options avasilable, free tasting of two wines from two varietals or $5 for an expanded tasting of two wines from each varietal (20 wines in all). Fantastic service and a great activity in a lovely setting among the vineyards.

Stopped at The Mudhouse Winery & Cafe for a wine tasting on our recnt trip south. Both the wine counters had two or three people at them. We walked up and were ignored, repeatedly, by both hosts. Wont be stopping there again!!

We passed the Mud House Winery & Cafe on our way to Hanmer springs and decided to have lunch there on our return. Being signposted as a cafe we didn't think we would need to book, however on our return we were turned away as they were fully booked. Very disappointed as the "cafe" was large and empty and we... This winery has a dining area attached with outdoor patio. The wild pies are from a range of game and poultry and are served with a dressed salad. Soups are also served. A wide range of their wines are served either by the bottle or the glass. A unique inexpensive ($NZ16.50 to $NZ25) and tasty lunch which was enjoyed out... More
