It's pretty expensive to enter - RM14 per person. But the place is a disappointment - we were told we would see the spice plants like ginger, galangal, etc. Instead we saw many other common forest plants only. The spice plants were really so pathetic looking - all small and shrivelled. However, the place has a nice big swing overlooking... more

We paid RM14 per person for a visit to the Tropical Spice Garden. We decided to go based on reviews at Trip Advisor. What a disappointment it was! We expected to see plants and spices. What we saw were labels of plants which were wilting, drying or half dead. We are not sure if they were really the plants indicated... more

My husband and I hired bikes and cycled from Batu Ferringhi to the Spice Gardens west of the town. They are a much welcomed respite from the hustle and bustle of the tourist strip - wonderful to wander through, peaceful and very educational with displays and signage detailing the culinary and medicinal uses of the plants growing throughout the area.... more

We were in Penang in March 2-4th.2009.We went to see the Tropical spice gardens.What a lovely place it is.Take a guided tour if possible.One would see a lot of Global spice plants and trees,beautifully looked after.Do not forget to go to the restaurant at the top of the garden,next to the shop.Its petite little place but the indian ladies working... more

This s a MUST SEE for all visitors to Penang. We were there in Janaury 2008 & regretted that we didn't go earlier in the day. The walks take about 90 minutes but you can lounge around on the many hammocks & swings & just totally relax in the gardens & look out onto the ocean. The plants are set... more
