Highly recommend seeing it during their periodic candlelit evenings, when thousands of flickering candles inside and out recreate a stunningly enchanting scene from centuries gone by. Rumor has it this was the inspiration for Fontainebleau. Whatever. It is a beautiful chateau, and well worth a visit in itself. The Sunday I was there, though, there were almost the same crowds as in Fontainebleau, though, apparently, not nearly as many Americans as Versailles.
