This cathedral is a must if you get to Sicily. The mosaics are beyond belief.

A five star attraction & DO NOT over look the cloisters. The condition of this cathedral and the bibilical mosaics make it the finest 'inside' cathedral in the world. Been in a lot [England, France, Russia, ect.] and this the most interesting and the mosaics are un-matched. Schedule a tour if you can.

Unbelievably beautiful Byzantine mosaics. Take your binoculars for the best view or just enjoy the beauty

Well worth the visit . Monreale is up on a hill side overlooking the city ( about 20 mins on bus). Really nice area, narrow streets, crafts, churches, visitor friendly. Recomended.

The most important church to visit and it was a splendid Norman-Arab cathedral....the interior walls are entirely covered with a dazzling expanse of golden mosaics!

Nothing prepared me for this - and I have a bit of a mosaic thing! Quite, quite beautiful and the cloisters were amazing too.

Really fab, try to be there in the afternoon as the sun streams through the large window at the opposite end of the alter. Sit down and watch the golden aspe/alter as the sun lights up the gold and Christ and the folds of his robes are highlighted. Breathtaking in its beauty. We were there at the end of March.... More

fabulous, impressive, unforgettable! you can park in the paying car park further down the hill (26/3/12, one euro per hour) and walk up the steps (past lots of stalls) and visit this magnificent beautiful cathedral. there's so much to see inside, just take a seat and look in all directions!
