An informative trip led by the knowledgeable David Mair The Balvenie "Ambassador of the Distillery". The working floor maltings were particularly interesting, as was the whole process with the tour finishing with a tutored tasting around a round table where i learned much.

This tour was really comprehensive, David is very knowledgable and he is what makes the tour! We got to see every aspect of the process and had tastings at various stages. This is the only distillery in the area with a malting floor so that brings it up to the next level. I highly recommend this tour, and I am... More

Booked a tour of the distillery after deciding on a spur of the moment trip to Dufftown. A very in depth tour with a fantastic guide in Katya with some input from David Mair. It's a long tour (upto 3 hours) but takes in all of the processes from malting to maturation. We even got to have a go at... More

If you want an alternative to the highly-commercialized Glenfiddich tour next door, The Balvenie distillery is the place to go to. A great guide took us on a 2 hour relaxed, unhurried tour of the distillery followed by an hour-long nosing and tasting session with whiskeys ranging from the standard 12-yr Balvenie all the way to a 300 quid 30yr... On a trip in August, we visited five distilleries and took two tours. The tour at The Glenlivet was pleasant but it took about 40 minutes and included a group of about 15 folks shuttling through a number of rooms. yes, it was free but lacked any kind of warmth... The Balvenie tour, on the other hand, is limited to... More

As this is one of the few remaining distilleries that does every thing manually, one leans more about the wonderful whisky, it's origin and folklore because your imagination does not have to travel far. We loved the hospitality made possible by a fine staff and the small group setting.

Wonderful tour! It is limited to 8 persons so it is intimate and in-depth. Our guide was very wonderful and very knowledgeable - you never felt like you were asking a stupid question. He was most helpful in making everyone feel comfortable about their experience at the nosing and tasting. Everyone felt very comfortable and it is not intimidating -... More

The thing about the tour of the Balvenie distillery is that you don't feel like just another customer that is to be served and sent on their way. What you feel is that people there really care about the quality of the experience you're going to have, as they care about all they do there. I was welcomed by Balvenie... More
