What a wonderful place! Everything about the Abbey and gardens was amazing. So sympathetically restored/maintained. Take a walk down to the gardens - very special place. Well worth a visit.
I recently visited Kylemore Abbey, as part of a CIE tour I was on. We were very blessed, as normally it is a picture stop, but our tour guide, the fabulous Maureen, managed to get us 90 minutes for the tour stop. Me and my companions, immediately booked it to the visitor center and got our tickets, ( half prices,...

Kylemore is beautiful, from the scenery to the story of how and why it was built. The walled gardens are large and brilliantly manicured. I would recommend walking to the gardens rather than catching the shuttle bus, as there's lots to stop and see on the walk, which is flat and only about 1km long, we easily managed with a...

Of all the castles we saw, this was our favourite on our ten day tour with Paddywagon Tours (highly recommended). Although we didn't tour the castle, the setting on the water is absolutely impressive. It makes for a great photo.
It was cold and windy the day we were there, so we didn't wander through the gardens.
We ate at...

If you are in the mood for a picture perfect castle, abbey, lake and gardens, this is the place to go. The castle was filled with genuine artifacts and had great display boards detailing the history of the castle and the pieces of furniture, paintings etc. My only disappointment here was that there were only a few rooms open for...

A very nice place between mountains and lakes. The abbey is very impressive in this landscape, although it's finally not so big. We enjoyed the gardens and the church but didn't have time to visit inside the abbey. We tried to walk on the tracks on the heights but soon turned back. The path was tough and almost dangerous. Sad,...

A remote and interesting place to visit. Well worth the journey. The gardens are a work in progress with the large head gardner's house being the complete opposite to the worker's bothy! The main house is impressive as is the video of the it's history.
Great view, great place, a trip to a swanky way of life from the past. You can admire the interior of the abbey, learn its` history, have a walk through the forest, visit the wonderful Victorian walled garden and, of course, take advantage of the route through the green meadows, on your way till there.
Had a fantastic day here, the views, the guide, even high tea in the cafe was lovely, only negative thing was cafe was expensive, € 4.25 for a slice of cream sponge!
