A very interesting and unususl day out. A trip down into both mines was fascinating and showed how hard, dirty and tiring a miners life was. The guides were very good and explained everything very well and in an interesting manor. The mines are very cold so make sure you wrap up and wear good shoes you dont mind getting... More

We opted for the ride on the miners tramway and were told the duration was about 30 mins and the cost for a family of four was approx £38. We thought it was expensive but hopefully would be worth it. A couple of times during the journey we were all asked to leave the tram and a brief explanation was... More

Even our kids, ages 8 and 12, enjoyed it! We watched the splitting demonstration then went on a guided tour. Fascinating!

We were very nearly put off by the high entry price (£63 for a family of 5), the tired above-ground offering, and the surly telephone manner of the staff. But we went anyway and had a great time. A ride on the miners' tramway was noisy, uncomfortable and damp, but this was an entirely authentic representation of the miserable lives... More

I bit expensive (£10 for the tour), but worth doing to get a feel of the local history.

Lovely museum - a tram ride into the mountain and around some caverns or a funicular railway down into the deep mine The tour is very atmospheric with traditional Welsh music and tales of the miners. The end of the deep mine tour ends in a fabulous cavern with an underground lake. Its lit up and the acoustics in there... More

Gorgeous, even in blizzard conditions!! Waterfalls, mountains and a number of disused miners cottages

Enjoyed our visit here, it was nice to get out of the rain!! No, it was really interesting to find out about how slate was mined, been to various other sorts of mine, and this was a bit different. The children enjoyed the wee train and fenicular thing that we went on. Was chilly inside through, don't forget your jacket!

I did both caverns. I do not know witch was best to be honest. The deep mine was so impressive with the under ground lake and audio tour information. The surface mine had a tour guide and i learnt more from him about how the miners worked and lived. Just do not miss visiting here.
