This is a lovely side trip from Prague and the countryside surrounding the castle is absolutely beautiful. Outside of the castle is really lovely - spectacular buildings set up on a hill with an interesting 2km walk up through the town to get to the castle grounds. Inside of the castle, however, was a let down. Our guide (a young... More

This is a lovely easy trip out of Prague by train. 3 of us went, and it cost about £2 each return! The more people who travel, the cheaper the ticket. We left from Smichov station, as we were at Jurys Inn across from Florenc Metro, so just a few stops away from that station. The journey takes about half... More

We first thought it was too bad you can only enter the caste with a guide but we didn't regret in the end. The tour was interesting and at times also very amusing. The only thing that left a little bit of a bitter aftertaste was the fact that we weren't allowed to see the beautiful chapel in the Great... More

The town is an easy ride from Prague, than about a 30 min walk. We got off the train and just followeed the signs for "Hrad" to get to the castle. The town itself is so beautiful. On the walk up to the castle you pass so many souvineer shops and fold stands. It is so much cheaper than Prague.... More

Karlstejn is a mere 45 minute train ride from Prague and is well worth the trip on a nice autumn day. From the train station, you can either take a short taxi ride or walk. Once you get to the small village at the foot of the hill, it will be a climb up the hill to get to the... More

Nice castle, also to take photos and walk around, worth visiting and perfect escape from the city. However paying 270 Kc (11 euros) to get in the castle doesn't worth at all, complete disappointment . You can walk around and inside the castle FREE.
