Our trip was a 4 night / 5 day private backpacking trip to Skolai Pass - August 3 - 7, 2011. This trip was absolutely amazing! The customer service was outstanding. Jared called several times and emailed to make sure the trip was everything we wanted. He asked about fitness level, experience, gear, etc. Nothing was left to chance. We... More

Had a splendid day on the glacier. Our guide, Matt, was knowledgeable, professional and fun. Besides being extremely competent, our guide was a great teacher and had all of us soon looking like we were pros. OK, well at least confident with crampons! In addition to exploring the landscape of the glacier we were nicely educated about how glaciers work... More

Spent five nights backpacking in Alaskan back country with our guide, Zack and Kennicott Wilderness Guides in July to celebrate my 30th birthday. Took an awesome bush flight out of McCarthy to our destination in a beautiful river valley. Over the next five days we crossed freezing cold rivers, went into ice caves, hiked in snow, across glaciers, through gnarly... More

Kennicott Wilderness Guides gave me a" way back in there" wilderness trip that I haven't been able to find in 4 decades of hiking all over Norh America., including arctic Alaska. Never have I witnessed such enthusiasm and appreciation of a jaw dropping beautiful wilderness that demands you be on your backpacking game every day. I learned some mountaineering skills... More

Thanks to our great guide Rebecca for a perfect day on the root glacier. We were only 2 (with a group rate!) so we could spend the whole day there and go to our own pace. Hiking with crampons can be a bit tiring when you are not used to it but it's worth booking the whole day (around 8... More

My husband and I only had 2 days to experience all that the McCarthy/Kennicott area had to offer. After several phone and email conversations with Jered, we knew Kennicott Wilderness Guides could deliver the experience we were seeking. Jared worked with us to develop a custom itinery/hike that would satify our desire to do a challenging day long hike. Jared... More

We were traveling with an infant, but our guide Betsy took it in stride. She still took us on challenging hikes because she trusted us and we trusted her. She was totally in tune with what we wanted to see and do and how to best help us have exactly the trip we were looking for. She didn't hover, but... More

We were already in Alaska but our trip to the north slope didn't come together - we had been told about the McCarthy Kennicott area which became plan B. So we do a little research (little in this case meant reading one paragraph in the Lonely Planet guide) show up in McCarthy (OK actually we called a couple of days... More

My husband and I took the Fosse fly-in trip to the Kennicott Glacier on July 5, 2009. Our guide was Jared. We met with him the night before and he fitted us for gear for walking and ice climbing. I have always wanted to try ice climbing and we also wanted to go further up the Kennicott Glacier. We had... More
