The melisani cave is awesome ,beautiful lake azure blue sunlight streaming through the hole in roof creates magical hues , boats take you on a twenty minute journey around the lake . Lots of day trippers here in afternoons from local coach tours and from cruise ships so can get crowded , suggest visit in mornings

Impressive stags and mites and rock formations; well lit; Not dissimilar to Caves of Drac in Majorca but not as good - also pricey entrance at 7 Euros plus tips per person....

The lake was lovely - we had a boat to ourselves as it wasn't too busy - we went early May

very interesting but a little expensive for what you see. The boat trip is nice but we enjoyed going from here to the beach and spending a lovely day by the water.

One can reach the location by driving from Sami to Karavomylos. There is a small parking area and steps to reach the cave. The price per person is €7 and include a small boat ride on the internal lake of what used to be the Melisani Cave, before its ceiling collapsed around 5000 years ago. The boat-captain will be happy... More

Very interesting natural wonder. Make sure your batteries are working in our camera as ours took 3 pics down there....and that was it!!!! Also, go at high sun, where the lake is the bluest!

The tour of the caves is very short and the guide is not very comprehensive in its description. I also believe that the price is very high compared to what you go to see. You'd better save the money for something else worth it. You only need to read the history of the caves and watch the pictures to get... More

I was on Kefalonia Island this summer.. Every year, my main vacation is taking place on one of the Greek islands.. I adore that country. However, I am also used to the fact, that Greeks are selling "everything" to us tourists. And I was thinking that the same thing is going around Melisani cave. But when I entered, I can... More

The colour of the water was an intense blue but not really worth the entry fee.

I don't understand the criticism. It was only 5euros and you are taken underneath into an amazingly lit and coloured underground lake. The sunlight hitting the water and mist which is hovering over the water is mesmeric.
