L'Aventure du sucre is housed in an old sugar mill, the display is arranged around the machinery and it's really well done and covers the history of Mauritis as well as the role of sugar and the processing of sugar. We really enjoyed the visit our only complaint was there was too much to take in in one visit. We... More

L'Aventure du sucre gives the history of Mauritius is facinating detail; it is not just about sugar but the entire history of Mauritius. Well worth a visit to learn more about this facinating island and the restuarant is great for lunch.

If Museums are not your thing - so be it, but if you are taking a drive out anyway, it is only 15 mins from Grand Bayie - the Cafe and Resteraunt serve good food (Mauritian), with a great views. Even if you do not have sugar with your Coffee, bet you do!) As per other reviews - this is... More

This is the old sugar factory, interesting enough for those who want to see big machines and wonder how sugar is made, and its history. They have done a good job of presenting the information, in an interesting way. The onsite restaurant is good, spend a few hours there, but dont buy the sugar, its a rip off. Its all... More

We went through the Sugar museum and was surprised by the amount of information that had been set up inside the old mill. Not only did you learn all about sugar but also a lot of the history of the island. A walk though tour of the old mill includes movies, displays and old machinery still set where it used... More

If your history aficionados, this is one place you don't want to miss when you are here, it gives you a whole history about the sugar business! You will be able to see the distillery , the different types of sugar and how slaves were brought in for this business.

This is a museum and if you want to know about the history of Mauritius, this is the place to come. They have done a great job of explaining the major events in the history of Mauritius and how they have come to be a big sugar cane producer. The restaurant is nice and the food was good. One complementary... More

It is much much more that the name suggests as it gives you the social history of the island as well as an insight into the history of the sugar cane industry. It is very well laid out but it is mainly a series of photos and narrative on display boards and would benefit from an audio show or similar.... More

L'aventure du Sucre is indeed interesting since whole Mauritian history stems from the sugar cane industry. So go for it. We've been able to go there for free, thanks to my lovely sister who won us coupons. Laksha u r awesome!

This museum is set at a closed sugar factory so you can tour the main building housing the large machinery. The display boards are full of details about the history of Mauritius and the story of the sugar economy. Those with a small attention span may find there are few interactive displays but the rum and sugar tasting at the... More
