We took the bus from Nafplio and went straight to the theatre. It is awe inspiring and so well preserved. The climb to the top is energetic but well worth the effort. The other ruins are quite interesting as well being a healing centre and comparing practises to today the greeks knew a thing or two about health. The only... More

Even if you are not interested in theatre, the architecture and the acoustics of this ancient theatre must be seen to be believed. The museum on the site is small, but worth seeing and you must walk around the entire location to see all the ruins.

The acoustics here are just astonishing - you can hear a coin drop from anywhere in the theatre. How ancient peoples could have such a refined knowledge of sound and building techniques is mind bogging. Reconstruction has also been done very sensitively. One of the better sites I visitied in Greece.

This is a most amazing theatre along with the other ruins there - Sanctuary of Askeplios, Gymnasium complex and so on. The museum, though very small, is astounding. The whole thing is very good value for the 6euro entrance fee. We were there in early May so not at all crowded. We took the bus from Nafplion (which takes about... More

For those of us who battle to mentally reconstruct whole towns and temples from a couple of marble pillars, bits of pottery and a statue or two missing most body parts, the Theatre of Epidaurus is a godsend. Here at last is an ancient site we can relate to; that still looks the way it did so many centuries ago... More

This place is unbelievable. It's perhaps the most well-preserved theater in the world. Don't miss it.

We went knowing this would be an amazing theatre and looked forward to hearing its perfect acoustic. We weren't disappointed. The surprise we didn't expect was the story behind the other ruins on the site. The Ancient Greeks created a place of serenity, where people could heal, indulge in the arts and be close to nature. Take the time to... More
