Burleigh is a manufacturer of fine English earthenware pottery established in 1851. Since 1889 Burleigh or Burgess & Leigh as we are often known, moved to the present site of "Middleport Pottery" in 1889. This grade 2* listed Victorian Factory was purchased by the Princes Regeneration Trust in 2011 with an aim to preserve and restore this fine old building, yet also allowing Burleigh pottery to continue production as tennants of the building. The Middleport tour will evolve over the next year as building works progress, however the expirience remains a visit where members of the public get to see a real working Victorian pottery. Many traditional techniques are used by Burleigh including transfer-ware printing Factory tours are offered on a pre-book basis, and are run by the Princes Regeneration trust team. Tours are usually run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 2pm and on Fridays at 10pm and cost £3 per person. Unfortunately the site is not currently suitable for under 11's or Wheelchair users due to the layout of the factory.
