Chester Zoo is an impressive zoo with an extensive collection of animals. Despite multiple visits, the entire zoo cannot be explored in a single day. The zoo can be quite crowded, which can make it challenging for young children and adults to get a view of the animals through the windows, as they may be obstructed by other visitors

Due to the amount of cars, we had to park at a considerable distance from the entrance. As we had a disabled badge, we would've been better with a Spacious Disabled bay, but unfortunately, none were available. Consequently, we had to navigate through a congested area to park our car in a limited and cramped space, which posed a challenge for the wheelchair user. Despite circling the area multiple times, we couldn't find a suitable parking space and were on the brink of resorting to the grassy section for parking, which is the furthest spot from the entrance.

The food options were limited at the venue and only vegan hot dogs were available so we needed to have apple crumble flapjack, which was amazing, I would highly recommend trying it

Overall I think the zoo is amazing but is very busy so it is not the best for people who struggle with crowds. I would recommend that you take a few snack to keep yourself going and not to waste time as it’s quite a big zoo to explore.

A lovely monastic cathedral that is easy to get to from the rail station, as there is a direct bus to the city centre that you can catch from outside! The Cathedral is also close to Chester’s famous city wall and its covered shops. There was no fee to enter but I donated the suggested £5. Inside there was no leaflet about its lay out, so I used my Batsford and Fry as a guide. Which was fortunate (as while other visitors photographed various parts of the Cathedral and its stained glass), I concentrated on the sublime wooden ceilings praised in the book and other articles. I only wish I’d had a better, more professional camera. The ceilings are worth the visit on their own.
The Cathedral also has a good shop and refectory - try the Eccles cakes with tea. An enjoyable day.

First time walking round the full route for the walls after visiting Chester many, many times over the years. Last time I walked on them I was at primary school and I’m now 68! We did this for my birthday in January when we stayed for a couple of days. Our Chester visits usually consist of a short trip to the shops by train from Liverpool so it was lovely to spend quality time in Chester. While walking the walls we witnessed a school party being marched around by a Roman legionnaire, I’ve never seen children so well behaved 😂, my husband and I were terrified 😂. It’s a lovely walk and you get a real feel of the history Chester is seeped in. Well worth it

We aren't really shopping mall people but we needed a few things so cold in here. It was early on a Friday afternoon and it was very busy but there's lots of parking and access an exit from the site is well-controlled.

It probably takes around half an hour to walk round the whole place obviously longer depending on how many shops you go.in Just about every brand you can think of has a presence here And I guess you can pick up a bargain or two.

There's lots of chain eateries as well along with more independence stands so you won't go short of things to eat or drink. It's the kind of place we enjoy every so often so maybe worth a visit.

Astonishing building - a tribute to the original builders. Excellent tea room - fresh food (lemon drizzle was delish) and absolutely delightful staff - so helpful and quick in bringing out food and even levelling up the tables as they cleared them! A cut above the cafe at Wightwick Manor where the staff were lovely but the cakes were dry.

    Absolutely Fantastic Christmas Present

Stuck for ideas for a Christmas present for my daughter and her 2 children, I came across the Alpaca Walking at Walton Hall Gardens in Warrington. Realising what a fantastic idea this was I booked a private session for a Saturday morning in February. Luckily the weather was dry, mild and bright but I don't think the rain would have dampened our spirits. We were met by Kyle one of the zoo rangers and as we were to find out he's an expert on all things alpaca. After being introduced to the 3 lovely alpacas Topaz, Jim and Mally, Kyle gave us some instructions on how to walk them and also told us about the character and nature of each of the alpacas. His depth of knowledge about the alpacas was second to none and all the facts he imparted to us were interesting and informative. The walk takes you around the grounds of Walton Hall and Kyle gave us lots of information and interesting facts about the hall and its grounds. The walk takes place earlier in the day before the park gets too busy. Bring your wellies if the ground is sodden, you'll need them! The present was a big hit with my daughter and 2 grandchildren, one of whom has additional needs and didn't stop smiling all throughout the walk! Plenty of photos were taken by us and Kyle helped by taking photos of us all together. After the walk we had refreshments in the on site cafe. The red velvet slice had been recommended by Kyle and he was right, they were delicious! We all had a great time and I would definitely recommend this experience. It made an absolutely fantastic Christmas present.

Really enjoyed our day at Quarry Bank Cotton Mill. Very interesting and great to see the old looms, working machinery and a working waterwheel. The house is nice too, quite modest compared to some we've we've visited of a similar time. Make sure you visit the Apprentice House. The tour guide there is excellent, which almost brings it to life.

Been driving past this place for years and always meant to call in. Today was the day we did. What an amazing place, we were totally in awe of how much info in the displays was given. These people are really passionate about the animals they look after and also animals that are endangered in other countries. We watched every display and it was well worth it. The last display to music was awesome, so many birds all flying together.

Enjoyed our stay at the hotel, pleasant room.

Park had good rides for the younger ones, but it could do with a coat of paint and tidy up, although the kids didn’t notice, they really enjoyed it.

The show on Saturday night was good fun and perfectly pitched for children. Kudos to the three young entertainers, Sinead, Charlotte and another young lad, having to deal with some children who kept getting up on the stage and throwing things, they handled it extremely well. Shame on the parents for not giving a dam, or telling them to stop. It wasn’t fair on the performers or other people in the audience, but they remained professional.

Would come again, but maybe when it’s a bit warmer.

Such a lovely nature reserve...this area is great with lots of spaces for picnics with tables scattered about .and a large map of the area .the views are lovely and the little bridges added to the scenery of tiny little wooded tree areas where dog can really enjoy themselves running in and out of the many littke walk ways .we walked 5 Miles all around enjoying seeing so much nature it was a real treat ...the barges were very interesting watching them glide along the waterways . Time just passed by and considering it was January we enjoyed every minute catching glances of the heron's ducks squirrels horses and especially our doggie enjoying her time .
