I strongly recommend a guided tour of Exeter Cathedral. We were hugely fortunate to have Mike Richards as our engagingly knowledgeable guide. Mike presented historical facts and entertaining stories which made the history of the cathedral relatable and memorable.
Mike achieved this despite intermittent loud intrusive noises from the Mars installation. The Mars exhibit seems inappropriate in this setting. It is surprising that volunteers have continued to offer their services whilst this overwhelmingly loud exhibit is making impossible demands when they are carrying out their invaluable guiding duties.

A really interesting museum. The ground floor is dedicated to Devon history and is fascinating. First floor contains items from the world over. Allow yourself at least 3 hours, maybe more, to take it all in.

Really enjoyed the tour here. Our tour guide, Dimitrios, was very friendly and polite, and was great at explaining the history of the passages. And he was patient with me as I couldn't walk very fast.

There are some parts (optional to visit) which require crouching low to go through. I have a disabled knee, so I managed to slowly crawl on all fours through those parts. If you don't want to do that, you can skip that section to get back to the entrance point.

    Worth a visit.

The Exeter Quay, once a thriving port on the River Exe is now an interesting collection of old buidlings housing mostly restaurants. It is only a short walk from the town of Exeter and worth a visit.

Another annual visit to this lovely museum. After a wander around and a browse in the gift shop, we had tea in the beautiful garden (under the Apple tree). A slice of carrot and a slice of fruit cake, with a lovely hot tea rounded off our visit.

This is a fantastic place. The Priory was founded by William the Conquerer in 1087. The monks here were members of the Benedictine order. After the Dissolution some of the Priory buildings were sold off by the Crown and it became the home of a wealthy merchant. Alterations have taken place down the years but many original features remain. Now The Priory is accessible for public visits on Sundays and Mondays. It is staffed by volunteers, who are also very knowledgeable guides, and the entrance is free. One of the most interesting places I have visited in Devon. The Priory is dedicated to St Nicholas, from whence we get the legend of Santa Claus.

John (a hidden treasure) gave us a fantastic tour. In such a short space of time, we learnt so much.

This very old building still stands and plays a part of local governance today of the city (700+ years later than when it was rebuilt).

So impressive! We were so lucky to have had this chance encounter to visit.

Pay a visit if you are interested in history.

Love visiting this place. But today just couldn’t believe the way a member of staff was bitching about some other staff. Seems there is a pecking order for staff to be offered the chance to purchase stuff, seems till staff are first but this woman was not happy the pecking order rule hadn’t been followed. If she wants to bitch she should do it where customers can’t hear. Also found a make member of staff rude. Waited for him to come down the stairs totally ignored me and never said thank you. Didn’t even acknowledge when I sarcastically said “thank you”. Seriously sort your staff out.

Visited at weekend, both hides fairly busy with lots of people around to advise on identifying the birds and great views of 2 spoonbills.
Tea, coffee and some snacks available in Lookout hide and they also have some binoculars and books to use.
A great bird hide to visit.

Spent a lovely few hours at Pebblebed Vineyard. Our host was excellent and the wines delicious - the still white was by far the nicest still english wine I have tried and so I left with a case! A really great afternoon!

We attended a performance by the Northcott Young Company. Absolutely excellent venue, performance and facilities.
It would have been a 5/5 review except for one issue: Car Parking. Unless you’re lucky enough to get a space in the small adjacent car park, be prepared for a decent walk.

Always have to go here when I'm in Devon, a fab centre with big walls, hundreds of great routes and, as a frequent wolo climber, a load of autos which is great to see. Wish I lived nearby just for this place!
