The MAEC houses an extraordinary collection bringing together all the material discovered in and around Cortona since the 1700s.The museum collection can be visited in two sections: one dedicated to the Etruscan Academy, and the other centered on the most recent findings from the Cortona necropolis. The collection of the Accademai Etrusca boasts exceptional pieces from various historical periods, like the celebrated Etruscan Chandelier, ancient Egyptian burial goods and works by futurist master Gino Severini. The section dedicated to the City of Cortona offers a journey that begins in the paleoenvironment of the Chiana Valley and arrives in the Cortona of Roman times, passing through the ancient period (580-480 B.C.E.) with the princely Etruscan tombs of the Sodo and Camucia and significant findings such as the Tabula Cortonensis, the third longest Etruscan text in the world. The layout of the museum was specifically designed to communicate with visitors in an innovative way, using both reconstructions and multimedia equipment. All texts are fully rendered in both English and Braill.

"My girlfriend & I visited Borgo Syrah right as the summer was blossoming, and we couldn’t have asked for a better week.
The accommodation was clean and modern, set in the peaceful and picturesque Italian countryside — exactly the kind of relaxing, stress-free environment we were hoping for. The ..."staff at the Borgo, especially Margherita and Giancarlo, were incredibly helpful in setting us up, in keeping us in bottles of beautiful wine from Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro, and in helping us arrange travel to and from the Borgo.
Borgo Syrah has been newly fitted out with everything you could want from a relaxing break, and we especially enjoyed afternoons and evenings dancing between the saunas, “emotional showers”, jacuzzi, and infinity pool. We’ll definitely be back.

"My sister in law and I booked this class months before our trip based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were far from disappointed! We met Shirley at 9am ( after driving 1 1/2 hours) in a cafe and over coffees and pastries with another couple we decided on a menu and shopped. Shirley took us up to her ..."beautiful home and we had an absolutely magnificent day filled with cooking, eating, drinking as much wine as we wanted and chatted non stop. Shirley is passionate about cooking and loves sharing her stories and cooking experiences. We left very full, with bags of leftovers and a recipe book at 7:45pm after a fantastic day. As we are still travelling we have cooked many of the recipes. I would thoroughly recommend Shirley!!!
