The Hunebedcentrum in the village of Borger on the Drenthe Hondsrug takes you on a journey into prehistory. Back to the time when the first farmers settled in Drenthe… the farmers who built the impressive stone burial monuments known as Hunebeds. The remains of these monuments can still be seen in the Drenthe landscape. There are 54 of them and the largest, D27, stands next to the Hunebedcentrum. Our museum tells the story of these mysterious megalithic tombs and the people who built them. It provides answers to questions such as: who built them and how? And above all, why were they built? For some questions there are no definite answers but we shall try to raise the veil surrounding some of the mysteries. But that’s not all!The Hunebedcentrum regularly organises special activities such as exclusive exhibitions, markets, walks and so on. We look forward to welcoming you to the Hunebedcentrum.
