What travellers are saying
- StephGRotherham, UK457 contributionsWhat a fantastic place to find something to eat, we had the intention of trying all different foods but we tried a portion of fries and they were massive after eating half we were full and had to throw the rest away.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VadimMurmansk, Russia26,794 contributionsThe 800-meter cable-stayed bridge with one hinged pylon is a real symbol of Rotterdam, a city that rose from the ashes after the barbaric bombing of the Luftwaffe in 1940. Perhaps this should be the symbol of the city with the largest port in Europe and the most international population in the Netherlands. And the appropriate name is in honor of the great humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam. However, because of the 139-meter hinged asymmetric steel pylon, the bridge was nicknamed "Swan". As often happens, excessive passion for design led to problems with the stability of the structure and the bridge had to be strengthened after installation. Strangely enough, the bridge was built not in Rotterdam, but in Vlissingen and delivered to Rotterdam. The bridge was designed by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel, who was later suspected of plagiarism from Santiago Calatrava. The Erasmus Bridge resembled the one built 4 years earlier by his project Puente Alamillo in Seville.Written 20 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah H3 contributionsWhat a gem of a place! Pinball machines from across the decades that you can play - the time flew by. It was busy, but there was always a machine free and plenty of space everyone.
Word of warning - if you find lights and sounds overwhelming, it may be a bit much after a while.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were no problems with this at any of the 9 stations in the Netherlands where I visited. The Rotterdam Railway Station, built in its current form in 2014, is striking in its scope. And, of course, the main exit, arranged from the south. A huge console placed diagonally gives the station an incredible, incomparable look. A significant part of the roof is glazed, including above the platforms). At the same time, 10 thousand square meters of its area are covered with 130 thousand almost transparent solar panels producing 320 megawatts/year. Everything is in the spirit of the times... Most of the batteries are installed in the most illuminated areas, where the shadows of the nearby Delftspoort skyscrapers do not fall. Passenger traffic at the station of 88 thousand people / day in 2022 has not yet recovered to the record of the last pre-pandemic 2019 of 120 thousand. In this, Rotterdam railway station is inferior to Utrecht, although it is certainly more interesting in beauty.Written 20 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - E17_KJLondon, UK1,153 contributionsMy 10 year old nephew loved it. So many animals, arranged by continent. We were there for four hours but could have stayed longer if it hadn’t been closing.Written 28 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ADM11Milan, Italy105 contributionsWell, the tower is spectacular.
Unfortunately, because of strong wind, the upper side wasn't reachable but I would recommend such a building, you can see the whole city of Rotterdam and the harbour, seaport, very huge.Written 20 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GreenerHazeLeeds, UK61 contributionsAbsolutely gorgeous gardens with lots of nooks and crannies. We visited the top cafe which had a limited but very tasty menu. The kids got a bit bored but I was thoroughly in love. I took a few ideas away too.Written 29 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jodie CStaffordshire, UK9 contributionsPossibly the best sandwiches we’ve ever had! The food was incredible, the service was good. Unfortunately, because it’s outside there was bird poo on the chairs and wasn’t somewhere you would want to pop your handbag on the floor. But no faults on the food.Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
